Two Children perish in a single family dwelling fire.

Three and four year old sisters perished in this afternoon house fire.  The room the girls were found in had flashed over before firefighters could arrive.  South Central Kansas Arson Strike Force is assisting in the investigation of the fire.

This was Mulvane's first fire related death in 15 years.  The last fatality fire was in a duplex just several hundred feet away from this home.

Rural Structure Fire

KWCH TV 12 Video

This structure fire broke out about 9:30 pm and took about 2 hours to bring under control.
Fire is believed to have started in the wall behind the fire place insert.
Temperature was about 18 degrees.  Udall and Belle Plaine provided additional water tenders.
Derby Fire & Sedgwick County were called in later to provided additional manpower.
This attic fire was hard to reach due to a false sheetrock ceiling installed under a lathe & plaster ceiling creating a void space.

Shed Fire at Mulvane Mobile Home Park

Mulvane Fire responded to the report of an unknown structure fire.  Found a 14 by 16 tool shed fully envolved in flames.
Occupants had been using a wood burning stove in it prior to the fire.

Hay Barn Fire in Cowley County

Mulvane Tender 408 assisted Udall Fire on this small hay barn fire.
About 250 hay bales were in the 20' x 40' machine shed. One round haybaler was also destroyed.

Garry also has pictures posted on his Flicker account.
