UTV 412, 2013 Kawasaki Diesel Mule.

October 2019, Mulvane Fire Rescue has received a new peice of firefighting equipment.  It is a 2013 Kawasaki Mule.

This unit comes to us used from the Kansas Forestry Service, Firefighter Property Program in Manhattan, KS.  It is excess federal property that is issued to Sumner County FD #12 at no cost other than we have to repair, maintain & equip it for our use.  This Mule has 213 hours with only 30 hours on it.  It is has diesel engine with 4 wheel drive.

It was selected as the better of 5 UTV's that were in stock.  We replaced the fluids, filters, battery, a heater hose and aired up the tires.  ATV ran perfect.

We will now apply for an Assistance to Firefighters Grant to purchase a skid unit for it.  The Skid unit will hold about 75 gallons of water and will be able to carry a stokes basket.  This will make the unit versatile for wildland firefighting and transporting patients to an ambulance from remote areas such as along the Arkansas River.  It can also be used to assist our swift-water rescue team with launching our boat in rugged terrain.  It is equipped with front and rear receiver hitches.
